THA Architecture, founded in 1983 by Thomas Hacker, is recognized for the design of public buildings and urban spaces. Libraries, university buildings, museums, theaters and urban design have formed the core of the work. The firm has received national, regional and local design awards, has won three national design competitions and has been published internationally in five languages. THA is organized as a studio practice. Their goal is to make buildings that express the most inspired architectural meaning for their clients. This focus challenges everyone in the office to produce at their highest potential and offers talented young designers an opportunity for a rigorous apprenticeship in architecture.

With a staff of forty, design teams work collaboratively in an open studio, coming together for investigative discussions and creative brainstorming. Design and project management are guided by a core set of principles. The integrity of their client’s values, the quality of the work experience for their staff and a deep respect for the people who build their designs are the underpinning structure. THA has established an excellent record of schedule and budget control and has the reputation of producing thorough construction documents. They have a 25-year history of environmentally sensitive and energy efficient design that embodies their belief that buildings and the people within them depend on the lasting health of their environment.
